Jakarta (ANTARA) - "We Are the Champions" adalah lagu legendaris yang dibawakan oleh band rock asal Inggris, Queen yang dirilis pada 1977 dalam album "News of the World".

"We Are the Champions" yang biasa dikumandangkan dalam event-event olahraga saat penyerahan piala itu diciptakan oleh vokalis Queen Freddie Mercury. Pada tahun 2009, lagu itu masuk ke dalam Grammy Hall of Fame dan terpilih sebagai lagu favorit dunia dalam sebuah jajak pendapat pada 2005.

Secara musikalitas, "We Are the Champions" mengusung musik rock yang kaya dengan instrumen. Intro lagu ini diawali dari iringan piano oleh Freddie Mercury yang disusul tabuhan drum dan distorsi gitar yang keras dari Brian May.

Meski menitikberatkan pada musik rock, namun Queen banyak menyertakan nada dan chord jazz dalam lagu "We Are the Champions".
